Volunteer officer, Boy Scout troop leader charged with raping boy

OLMSTED FALLS, Ohio -- An Ohio volunteer auxiliary police officer who is also a Boy Scouts of America troop leader has been charged with rape, police said.

Aaron Robertson, 26, was arrested Monday, reports CBS affiliate WOIO. The station reports the victim is a 15-year-old boy.

Olmsted Falls police chief William Traine said Robertson is suspected in more than 10 rapes, most of them in Olmsted Falls, southwest of Cleveland. Traine said the teen boy is the only known victim, but he fears there could be more. He wouldn’t say when the alleged incidents occurred or whether the victim was involved in the Boy Scouts.

Robertson was a volunteer with the Olmsted Falls police department for five years, Traine said. Traine said Robertson was uniformed but was unpaid, acting in a volunteer capacity to aid the police department with events and other calls. He was not armed and did not have arresting power, Traine said.

Robertson was fired from that position after his arrest Monday.

Traine said Robertson had no prior criminal history.

Robertson was set to be arraigned on Tuesday.

Anyone with information is asked to call 440-235-1234.
