Video: NASA engineer looks back on 7 years of Mars rover work

(CBS News) Sure, Mars rover Curiosity is a marvel of modern technology. The 1-ton, atomic powered robot is sitting on the surface of Mars gearing up for years of cutting edge scientific exploration. But the robot shouldn't get all the credit. What about the team behind the rover - the real people who spent years of their lives pulling off this incredible achievement?

Engineer Mark Rober is one such person. This charming self-made video looks back on the seven years of blood, sweat and mathematics that Rober, and others like him, went through to land a machine on Mars.

Rober sums up the video in his description: "I was able to work on NASA JPL's Curiosity Mars Rover for 7 years. This video is an attempt to capture what it felt like to have 7 years of your life vindicated in the 7 minute landing. Honestly one of the coolest moments of my life so far."
