VIDEO: Man dressed as Spiderman tries to rob Pa. store
(CBS) OAKLAND, Pa. - A 21-year-old man dressed as Spiderman was arrested early Friday after allegedly attempting to rob a store in Oakland, Pa., reports CBS Pittsburgh.
Police say Jonathan Hewson ran into the convenience store around 1 a.m. Friday and ordered the clerk to tell him how much money was in the register. The clerk reportedly pulled out a stun gun and attempted to fire it before Hewson ran out of the store.
Now Hewson is facing robbery charges.
His roommate claims it's all just a big misunderstanding.
"He's not doing anything malicious. I don't think he's ever considered robbing a store, ever," Chris Esposito told the station. "He's a Spiderman enthusiast. He's just a college kid and college kids tend to do strange things."
There's a defense we've actually never heard before.
