Video highlights hazing allegations against Pittsburgh high school students

(CBS) PITTSBURGH - Newly released video obtained by CBS Pittsburgh reportedly shows high school upperclassmen beating incoming freshmen with a paddle as part of an initiation.

According to the station, the video allegedly shows individuals who attend Upper St. Clair High School delivering repeated blows to the buttocks of incoming students. Parents of the alleged victims have reportedly told the station that wooden boards and hockey sticks were used in the incidents.

Images obtained by the station reportedly depict red welts and large blisters on the victims' backsides.

The station reports the hazing does not appear to be related to any school sports team or organization; still, several parents have filed complaints with the school.

The mother of one alleged victim told the station that the older boys tell or text the younger students to show up at a certain place for their paddling. If they refuse to take part, they are reportedly told to expect worse when school starts.

The pictures and video have been sent to dozens of classmates and the reaction on social media is piling up, the station reports.

After CBS Pittsburgh's initial report on the hazing allegations, tweets in support of the hazing popped up.

"THAT'S AWSOME! My grade was on TV for hazing #bestsupperclassmen," one tweet read.

"This is such bull(expletive)!!! You should be honored to be pattled (sic)!!," another one read.

According to the station, hazing in the Pittsburgh school district has been going on for years.

The incident is reportedly under investigation.
