"I was so thrilled when I was asked to be a part of 'SpongeBob' as my children love the show," Beckham, 36, told British newspaper The Daily Mail. "When I told the boys that I was going to be on the show, they were so excited!"

Beckham's three young sons - Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, 7, and Cruz, 5 -- are fans. Their admiration influenced her decision to lend her voice to the long-running animated series.

"I had such a great time recording the voice of Queen Amphitrite. How fun to be a queen for a day! We are all looking forward to watching it together."

"Posh Spice" will join the likes of heavy metal rocker Sebastian Bach and actor John O'Hurley who will also be making cameos in the Nickelodeon cartoon.

Past "SpongeBob SquarePants" guest stars have included Johnny Depp (who played the "surfer dude" Jack Kahuna Laguna) as well as actors Amy Poehler and David Hasselhoff.

Queen Amphitrite will make her apperance in an episode called "The Clash of Triton," set to air July 5.
