U.S. senator live-tweets her jury duty experience

Senators: They're just like us.

Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Missouri, was called for jury duty on Monday in her home state and shared every step of the experience on Twitter.

The 62-year-old senator, who was elected to the Senate in 2006, said jury was on her bucket list.

She took the advice of a Twitter follower and sat near an electrical outlet.

She shared some observations about how the 150 potential jurors were keeping themselves occupied.

McCaskill spotted a TV in the room and prayed that someone wouldn't turn on Fox News.

She later said someone turned on Comedy Central.

The senator was finally called for panel three and was very excited.

After McCaskill graduated from law school, she served as a prosecutor in Kansas City. At jury duty on Monday, she said a lawyer recognized her and suggested McCaskill might not make it onto a jury because of her legal background.
