Neil Dalton and Aidan Brunger, both 22, were working on a six-week placement with five other medical students at a Malaysia hospital.

They were found lying in a road in the capitol city of Kuching with stab wounds in the back and chest.

According to Sarawak police Deputy Commissioner Chai Khin Chung, the students and four suspects began quarreling in a pub. The suspects followed the students when they left the pub and attacked them after pursuing them by car.

Chai said police have arrested three of the suspects and are searching for the fourth. Police also seized the suspects' car as well as a knife allegedly used in the attack.

"The main suspect, aged 23, is in custody," Chai said.
