Twerking outside courthouse leads to arrest of three women

BEAVERTON, Ore. - Twerking drew attention to two young women in front of city hall in Beaverton, Ore., and led to the arrest of the dancing duo and an "accompanist" friend, including on drug charges, according to CBS affiliate KOIN.

Public urination was also among their alleged behavior.

According to Beaverton Police Officer Mike Rowe, 20-year-old Brittany Medak and 22-year-old Leokham Yothsombath, had accompanied their 20-year-old friend Christie Valazquez Coura to municipal court Monday afternoon so that Coura could pay a fine.

When Coura had done so, she and Medak allegedly began "twerking and exposing their genitals" in front of city hall in plain view of those near the court's windows, according to KOIN. Medak then lifted her skirt and urinated between two cars, an officer told the station.

Meanwhile, Yothsombath, of Portland, reportedly recorded the entire incident on her cellphone.

All three women then drove off, but didn't get very far after a court employee had called Beaverton police dispatch, according to KOIN. Police pulled them over, and Medak reportedly gave them permission to search the women's vehicle - whereupon an officer allegedly found cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana in the car, and all three were taken into custody.

Each of the women faces multiple drug-related charges. Medak and Coura, both of Vancouver, Wash., were also booked on second-degree disorderly conduct for the "twerking-urination" episode.
