Tulsa Apartment Murders Update: Person of interest arrested in Kansas
(CBS) TULSA, Okla. - Police say a person of interest in the murders of four women in a Tulsa apartment complex Monday has been arrested in Independence, Kansas, CBS affiliate KOTV reports.
Tulsa police said Joseph Tillman, 33, is not a suspect in the crime, but homicide detectives were looking to speak to him because he reportedly knows one of the victims, KOTV reports.
According to the station, police say Tillman is known to frequent the area near the apartments where the crime took place.
KOTV reports police say Tillman was a passenger in a car stopped in Montgomery County, in southeast Kansas, Tuesday evening.
Independence police arrested Tillman on an outstanding warrant for domestic assault and battery, the station reports.
Tulsa police say they are working on getting Tillman back to Tulsa so they can question him about the murders at Fairmont Terrace Apartments that took place midday Monday.
Twins Rebeika Powell and Kayetie Melchor, 23, Misty Nunley, 33, and Julie Jackson, 55, were all found shot to death in the same Tulsa apartment. A 3-year-old boy, who was also in the apartment at the time of the murders, was found unharmed.
