Three charged with murder in missing Virginia cop case

GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. - Murder charges have been filed against three individuals in connection with the disappearance of Virginia police captain Kevin Quick, reports CBS affiliate WTVR.

Leslie Casterlow, 49, of Manassas, Anthony Stokes Jr., 31, of Manassas, and Halisi Uhuru, 22, of Danville, were arrested Thursday night. All three are charged with second degree capital murder during abduction, according to the station.

A body, believed to be that of Quick, was discovered Thursday in Goochland County. Police are expected to positively identify the body later Friday, according to the station.

Quick, 45, disappeared the night of Jan. 31 after leaving his mother’s home in Afton. He was headed to see the mother of his four-month-old daughter, about 20 miles away, but he never showed up.

Three siblings were arrested and charged earlier this week in connection with the case.

Mersadies Shelton, 20, and Daniel Mathis, 18, are charged with the theft of Quick's vehicle, which was found abandoned in a remote area in Louisa County on Monday. Shantai Shelton, 24, was arrested on an outstanding warrant. All three of the siblings were ordered held without bond Thursday.

Quick’s vehicle was reportedly used as a getaway car in an armed robbery and shooting at around 7 p.m. Sunday in Louisa County, CBS affiliate WTVR reported. Mathis is charged in that armed robbery, according to the station.

Quick is a 24-year veteran of the Waynesboro Police Department’s Police Reserve unit, Waynesboro Police Sgt. Brian Edwards told CBS News' Crimesider on Wednesday. He said Quick holds a volunteer position at the department but is still considered a law enforcement officer.

Goochland County, where the body was reportedly found, is about 30 miles south of Louisa County, where Quick’s vehicle was found abandoned Monday.
