Homegrown threat

After the Orlando massacre, the Department of Homeland Security has extended a bulletin released late last year, saying it is concerned about homegrown violent extremists who could strike with little notice. Meanwhile, the FBI continues to uncover new details about the Orlando shooter's erratic behavior.

Buying a gun

Orlando has re-ignited the debate over guns, and military-style semi-automatic rifles in particular. We sent a producer to a gun store in Virginia, which, like Florida, does not have a waiting period for rifle sales, to see how easy it is to get your hands on a firearm similar to the ones used in Orlando and San Bernardino.

After a 2-year-old boy was killed by an alligator at a Disney resort, we take a closer look at the powerful and deadly animals. Experts at an East Texas alligator ranch explain why some of the reptiles are migrating from swamps into cities.

Low-tech

Jurisdictions in more than a dozen states will use voting machines in November that are at least 15 years old. Two years ago, a presidential commission tasked with figuring out how to prevent long lines at the polls warned the state of voting technology was an "impending crisis."
