Digging out

Rescuers were still digging methodically through the rubble today in Nepal's battered capital city, hoping to find survivors, but expecting to find many more bodies. The ground began to heave in Nepal at about midday on Saturday - the violent tremors captured on security camera video at a hotel. CBS News correspondent Holly Williams says, in just a few minutes, the devastating quake razed buildings, shattered roads and claimed more than 3,500 lives, according to police, but the death toll is expected to rise.

Mount Everest

A high altitude rescue operation is underway on the slopes of Mount Everest, after an avalanche killed at least 17 people, including 3 Americans. CBS News correspondent Vladimir Duthiers reports about 100 people, many of them injured, are trapped on the mountain.

Death in the Mediterranean

"60 Minutes" travels with the Italian coast guard as it conducts search and rescue missions for men, women and children -- many fleeing war zones in rickety fishing boats. Watch CBS News correspondent Clarissa Ward's full report, "Death in the Mediterranean." Last weekend, an estimated 800 migrants trying to reach Europe drowned when their boat capsized off the Libyan coast. Thousands of people had already died trying to make that same dangerous journey.

Woman sues cops

Transit police in San Francisco face a lawsuit claiming they used excessive force on a drunken woman last year. The woman claims newly released video of the incident shows officers violently knocking her to the ground for no reason. CBS News correspondent Ben Tracy reports on the encounter that allegedly left the woman with broken bones.

Civil rights

After clashes in Baltimore over the weekend, Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Maryland, said on CBS News' "Face the Nation" the struggle over how police treat African Americans is the single largest civil rights issue of the current generation.

Same-sex marriage

The Supreme Court hears arguments tomorrow about whether same-sex couples have the constitutional right to marry, and that has thrust the issue back into the spotlight - and the 2016 presidential campaign.

Economic hints

A fresh set of economic numbers will be in play this week. They include the Federal Reserve policy announcement on Wednesday, the initial estimate of first-quarter GDP growth the same day, and an update on wages and benefits on Thursday. Market watchers will keep a close eye on all this to get any sign that the Federal Reserve may increase interest rates faster than anticipated. Here is what they will be looking for.

Battle above

No one wants a war in space, but it's the job of a branch of the Air Force called Space Command to prepare for one. If you've never heard of Space Command, it's because most of what it does happens hundreds even thousands of miles above the Earth or deep inside highly secure command centers. CBS News Correspondent David Martin gets a look inside one of centers for 60 Minutes. You may be as surprised to find out how the high-stakes game for control of space is played.
