This car tops the list for being a "ticket magnet"

When envisioning cars that fit the billing of being a so-called "babe magnet," a Ferrari or a Porsche are among the brands that come to mind. In a similar, albeit more dubious, vein, a flashy Lexus sedan is topping a list of "ticket magnets" released Thursday.

Drivers prone to getting tickets for traffic violations favor the Lexus ES 300, according to a survey conducted by Insurance.com, the car insurance comparison-shopping website. Last year's winner? The Subaru WRX, which the website describes as "the favorite of lead-footed, 20-something male drivers everywhere." That said, the Subaru WRX fell to number 12 in the analysis of insurance claim and traffic violation data from 331 models and more than 323,000 customers.

A survey of which car makes and models received the highest and lowest number of traffic tickets over the past two years found those behind the wheels of the Lexus ES 300, Nissan 350Z and Dodge Charger SE/SXT were ticketed most often, and also filing an above-average count of insurance claims.

Cars with the lowest percentage of tickets tended to be luxury vehicles, in most instances, the poll also found, with the Buick Encore, Lexus IS350, Acura ILX and Cadillac ATS among the least frequently ticketed.

"It's the driver that gets tickets, not the car," Penny Gusner, consumer analyst for Insurance.com, said in a statement. "But it is interesting to see what vehicle makes and models attract drivers who are prone to traffic violations."
