(CBS) "The Hunger Games" fans are already counting down the days until March 23, 2012, when the big-screen adaptation of the bestselling novel hits theaters. But they'll have to wait much longer to see the sequel.

Lionsgate has announced that "Catching Fire" will be released on Nov. 22, 2013.

That movie will be based on the second novel in Suzanne Collins' dystopian, young-adult trilogy. Fans will have to wait more than a year after the first film comes out to see the next installment.

"The magical thing about the Hunger Games trilogy is that the books have such a vastly broad appeal," Lionsgate Chief Operating Officer Joe Drake said in a statement about the release date. "The stories truly offer something for everyone, and the period around the Thanksgiving weekend is such an opportunity for families and friends to make an event of going to the movies."

No other details about "Catching Fire" were provided.
