Texas teacher Cristina McCann turns self in after alleged field trip tryst

(CBS/KEYE) AUSTIN, Texas - Austin-area teacher Cristina McCann reportedly turned herself in Monday after accusations that she engaged in an improper relationship with a student during a field trip.

McCann, a former marketing instructor at Lake Travis High School turned herself over to police in Fort Worth, Texas and was released on a $10,000 bond, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

According to Sgt. Pedro Criado of the Fort Worth Police Department, McCann is alleged to have had an improper relationship with a male student while on a field trip to that city, reports CBS affiliate KEYE.

The school district's website says McCann has been with the school since 2007.

According to Lake Travis Independent School District spokesman Marco Alvarado, McCann was placed on administrative leave on May 5 when the district became aware of the allegations. McCann resigned from her position a week later on May 12.

The student was not listed as a juvenile, reports the Star-Telegram.
