(CBS) A 7-year-old Texas boy died Friday after being found buried alive in a sand pit where he had been playing with his 5-year-old brother, CBS Houston reports.

Bexar County Sheriff's spokesman Paul Berry said Wyatt McDaniel was playing with his little brother Logan on the family's horse farm when Logan ran for his father, Wild Sunday Farm head instructor Charles McDaniel, after Wyatt got stuck in the 4-foot sand pit.

Charles McDaniel pulled Wyatt out and immediately gave his son CPR. Wyatt died later at an area hospital after going into cardiac arrest.

The farm is located about 30 miles north of downtown San Antonio.

Bexar County Sheriff's Office and Child Protective Services are investigating the incident. Autopsy results from the medical examiner won't be released until next week.

A vigil for Wyatt was held Sunday at Wilderness Oak Elementary School.
