Televisions taking the spotlight at CES
One of the stars of this year's International Consumer Electronic Show is televisions -- curved, colorful and thinner than ever.
The show floor abounds with 4K, ultra-high-definition televisions, which raised the resolution bar over 1,080p. And curved displays, which also created a bunch of buzz last year, have finally made it to your desktop computer.
Taking viewing ever further, LG and Samsung are unveiling quantum dot TVs, which use nanocrystals to display a broader range of colors and improved saturation. And LG will be showing off screens that are 75 percent thinner than before.
CES will also be a battleground for the smartest of the smart TVs. LG's, which is powered by the next generation of its smart TV operating system, webOS 2.0, is going up against Samung's smart TV with its own Tizen operating system.
Samsung, however, may get even more attention for its smart TVs that let you stream more than 200 PlayStation games without a PlayStation. The company plans to roll out this feature in the first half of this year.
