Storm brings tornadoes, huge hail to Colorado

(AP) CASTLE ROCK, Colo. - A storm system has brought tornadoes, heavy rain and hail to the Denver area.

National Weather Service meteorologist Jim Kalina says the agency received six reports of tornadoes Wednesday night, though it wasn't immediately confirmed whether all the reports were for separate tornadoes.

One tornado was reported north of Denver International Airport around 5 p.m. Another tornado near Grover around 6:40 p.m. threw a small tree about 20 feet. The agency received four more reports of twisters near Kiowa, Elizabeth and Bennett around 7:30 p.m.

Meanwhile a flash flooding warning was issued for parts of Elbert, Douglas and Arapahoe counties as thunderstorms brought an estimated 2 to 3.5 inches of rain to some areas within 90 minutes.

Hail as big as golf balls was reported near Parker and Castle Rock.
