Stephen Collins' divorce case has millions at stake: Report

The child molestation allegations against "7th Heaven" actor Stephen Collins will reportedly play a role in his upcoming divorce trial, at which millions of dollars are said to be on the line.

Collins' estranged wife, Faye Grant, said in legal documents that the couple's assets total more than $14 million, TMZ reports. She says she wants half, according to the website, but Collins' lawyer accused her of leaking the audio file in which he allegedly confessed to having inappropriate sexual contact with underage girls in an effort to get more money.

"Over the course of my representation of Stephen in the divorce case, Faye has repeatedly threatened to give this audiotape to the media unless Stephen agreed to pay her millions of dollars more than that to which she was legally entitled," attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan said Tuesday in a statement to TMZ. "When these demands were rebuffed, Faye attempted -- without success -- to peddle the tape in numerous ways to numerous different people. It appears that she has finally found an audience for this tape -- not surprisingly, on the eve of the trial in the divorce case where, again, she is seeking millions of dollars more than that to which she is legally entitled."

Grant denies having any part in the tape's release, saying she turned it over to the authorities in 2012 at their request in connection with a criminal investigation. "I had no involvement whatsoever with the release of the tape to the media," she said.

TMZ, meanwhile is also reporting that Grant will present evidence at the couple's divorce trial, including Collins' alleged taped confession, as evidence in an attempt to convince a judge to separate their assets immediately, so that she is protected should any of the victims sue her estranged husband.

The trial is reportedly set to start Nov. 12.
