The first "Spring Breakers" starred Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson as bored college students who go on a robbery spree with a rapper named Alien, memorably portrayed by Jams Franco.
The film received good reviews, especially for its genre, and made more than six times its production budget at the box office.
Writer and director Harmony Korine will not be returning for the new installment."Trainspotting" author Irvine Welsh has penned the script, with Jonas Akerlund set to direct.
This time around, the "Spring Breakers" crew is expected to face off against a group of Christian extremists trying to convert them.
