Smells like...19,000 lbs. of stolen garlic!
(CBS/AP) VIENNA - Three overloaded and sagging vans about to cross from Austria into Hungary didn't pass the smell test, because they were hauling more than 9 tons of garlic.
As one Austrian police officer said, tellingly, ""All three vehicles really stunk like garlic."
The Austria Press Agency says police stopped the stinky vehicles, questioned five men in them, and charged them on suspicion of receiving stolen goods.
Police say the garlic apparently came from Spain and estimate its value at euro 30,000 ($37,500). The suspects are all Romanian nationals.
