Simon Cowell is victim of fake 911 call

Simon Cowell has been the latest victim of a false 911 call placed in California early Sunday, according to reports.

A caller told the 911 operator that "The X Factor" judge was tied up with duct tape, giving "Simon Cowell's house" as the address, even though the call was coming from outside of the city limits, Beverly Hills police told The Los Angeles Times.

"Officers responded to the Cowell residence and contacted Mr. Cowell and confirmed that the call was a false report of an emergency," the Bevery Hills Police Department said in a statement, according to  reports in the LA Times.

These 911 prank calls are known as "swatting" because they sometime bring S.W.A.T teams to the victims' home. Within the last three months, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and Ashton Kutcher have all been victims of "swatting."
