CBS

Updated 5:00 p.m. EST (CBS/AP) WEATHERFORD, Okla. - Authorities say seven prison inmates being transported from Tennessee escaped in a van Tuesday with a gun in it in western Oklahoma but police have since found the van and captured five of them, reports CBS affiliate KWTV.

Initial reports said a total of eight inmates had escaped and six had been caught.

The station reports Weatherford police located the white Chevrolet van with blacked out windows in Weatherford. Police believe the two escapees who are still at large are not armed to their knowledge, according to the station.

Police describe the first suspect as a black man wearing a green T-shirt and blue jeans. The other suspect is described by police as a white male with a camo T-shirt and blue jeans, the station reports.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Betsy Randolph says the guards in the transport van stopped at a hospital in Weatherford Tuesday afternoon and were inside the hospital when the inmates escaped.

Randolph says she doesn't know why the guards were inside the hospital nor where the van was going and it wasn't known which direction the van was heading. KWTV reports officials had stopped at the hospital after one of the inmates said he was sick.

A dispatcher at the Weatherford Police Department said she could not comment and hung up.
