Twin boys born minutes apart arrived in different years

Arizona twins born just minutes apart were welcomed into the world in different years, CBS Phoenix affiliate KPHO reports.

One baby was the last to be born at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, Arizona, in 2016 -- and the other was the first in 2017.

Everett Jackson Schay arrived at 12:01 a.m. on January 1, said his father, Brandon Schay. Everett’s brother, Sawyer, arrived moments earlier -- at 11:51 p.m. in 2016.

The couple got to the hospital on Saturday.

“As it was happening we were like ‘oh, this is’ -- like, we kind of had a little foreshadowing that this could happen, and it did,” Brandon Schay said.

“We’re thrilled that we get to tell this story to family,” said Holly Schay, the twins’ mother.

A family in Arlington, Texas, has a similar story to tell. J’aiden Alexander Sanchez arrived at 11:46 p.m. on Saturday, and his brother came into the world 26 minutes later, making Jordan Xavier Sanchez an Arlington hospital’s first baby of the new year, CBS Dallas/Fort Worth reported. The two babies were not actually due until January 20, but they decided to show up early.

Twin sisters in San Diego were also born in different years. A baby girl was born at 11:56 p.m. on December 31, while her sister arrived four minutes later, in 2017, CBS affiliate KFMB reported

The twin girls were born at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns in Kearny Mesa.
