Ryan Armstrong Murder: Three men convicted in fatal stabbing of Calif. pastor's son
(AP) TEMECULA, Calif. -- Three men have been convicted in the stabbing murder of a prominent Riverside County pastor's 22-year-old son, and the attempted murder of two of the victim's friends.
The Press-Enterprise reports guilty verdicts for 33-year-old James Wing Fung, 34-year-old Matthew Alexis Basler and 29-year-old Justin Black were read Tuesday to a packed courtroom.
The men were involved in an argument on Dec. 26, 2008, with victim Ryan Armstrong and two of his friends.
The alleyway fight lasted less than a minute before the defendants sped away in a pickup. Fung's bloody knife was found at the scene.
Defense attorneys had argued the men acted in self-defense.
Though he was grateful for the verdicts, founding pastor of Cornerstone Community Church Ron Armstrong said he misses his son.
