Ryan Adams is covering Taylor Swift's entire "1989" album, and she's thrilled
Ryan Adams is planning to put a new twist on Taylor Swift's wildly successful pop album.
The 40-year-old rocker -- who got rave reviews for his cover of Oasis' "Wonderwall" in 2004 -- revealed via Instagram that he is covering "1989" in its entirety, and is looking to make his version of the songs sound more like Morrissey's '80s band The Smiths.
"Deep end Smiths vibe," he captioned a photo of the "Blank Space" lyrics.
Adams even shared a snippet on Instagram of him covering "Welcome To New York." Is this really the same song?
"Guaranteed saddest version of 'Welcome to New York' ever -- or your tears back," he vowed.
In fact, Adams can't stop Instagramming about his time in the studio laying down these hits.
Needless to say, Swift was thrilled that the renowned indie musician was doing such a project. "@TheRyanAdams is this true??????? I WILL PASS OUT," she excitedly tweeted.
Adams replied, "Yes. Just finished Style. Badass tunes, Taylor. We're sandblasting them and they're holding steady."
Unable to contain herself, the 25-year-old singer wrote back: "Cool I'm not gonna be able to sleep tonight or ever again and I'm going to celebrate today every year as a holiday. I'M CALM."
This obviously isn't the first time an artist has covered a Swift song. In 2014, it seemed like almost everyone did a rendition of her hit "Shake It Off." Check it out here.
