Robert Champion Hazing Death: 11 Florida A&M band members to be arraigned today

(CBS/AP) ORLANDO, Fla. - A judge will read the charges in an Orlando courtroom on Thursday against the 11 Florida A&M University band members charged in connection with the hazing death of 26-year-old drum major Robert Champion.

Their arraignment comes seven months after Champion died on November 19, 2011 following what authorities said was a hazing ritual after FAMU's football game in Orlando aboard a bus parked outside a hotel. His autopsy report listed his cause of death as homicide as the result of repeated blows to his body.

Most of the defendants waived their arraignments and won't appear in court. Two defendants who haven't hired attorneys may be assigned public defenders.
