Rob Lowe had no idea that his Saturday night shenanigans had the potential to go viral.

On Saturday, Lowe, 51, posted a clip featuring his best Julie Andrews lip-sync impression from "The Sound of Music" -- shirtless, and in a towel.

"That's the thing about 25 years sober," Lowe told CBS News Monday while chatting about MasterCard's latest Stand Up To Cancer initiative. "When I first got sober my biggest fear is that my life would be boring and I wouldn't have any fun anymore. When you look at my Saturday night 'Sound of Music' tweet, you go, 'That guy is having way too much fun!' And that is sober and loving life...And I was goofing around with my wife and some friends."

Lowe made the clip using Dubsmash, a mobile app to create short selfie videos with popular songs.

He says he's glad the clip brought smiles to people's faces. As for his typical Saturday night? This isn't quite it.

Check out the video above to find out how Lowe usually spends his Saturday nights.
