Report: Children found starving, one chained in Calif. home

SALINAS, Calif - Two California women were arrested Friday after three children, one of whom was chained to a floor, were allegedly found starving in a home near Salinas, reports CBS San Fransisco.

Eraca Craig, 31, and Christian Deanda, 44, who live at the home about 100 miles south of San Fransisco, were reportedly arrested on several child abuse charges.

The children, two boys and a girl, 8, were rescued after authorities followed up on a report of possible neglect at the home, sheriff's officials told the station.

The girl was "extremely emaciated," Monterey County Sheriff Scott Miller told reporters in a press conference, according to the station.

"She's been described as someone who looked like she'd been in a concentration camp," Miller said.

The children were reportedly malnourished and had signs of physical and emotional abuse. One was hospitalized, and two remain in protective custody, reports the station.

Police described the home as dirty and with little food. The relationship between the women and the children was not immediately clear.
