The 48-year-old singer-songwriter was in the middle of a European tour in November when he fell ill and was hospitalized for several weeks in Vienna. After returning to Britain for more treatment, Michael said his survival had been "touch and go" and he thanked the medical staff at the Vienna Hospital.

Michael is offering the staff another token of gratitude - 1,000 tickets to the Sept. 4 show.

The tour will take Michael, who rose to fame as one-half of the the pop duo Wham!, to the Netherlands, France, Scotland, Wales and several cities in England before winding up in Earl's Court in London in mid-October.
