Rapper T.I. Summoned to Court After LA Drug Arrest
ATLANTA (CBS/AP) T.I. is probably kicking himself right now for being too lazy to drive around the block, since his minor traffic stop for an illegal U-turn turned into a Hollywood drug bust, that could now turn into a federal probation violation for the rapper.
The Grammy award-winner has been summoned to appear before a federal judge in Atlanta to explain why his probation for a firearms violation should not be revoked, after he was arrested for drug possession in Los Angeles this month.
U.S. District Judge Charles Pannell Jr. signed the summons for T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, on Thursday. The same judge sentenced Harris for firearms violations. A date has not been set.
The order lists three possible violations of his bond: possession of Ecstasy, testing positive for opiates and associating with a convicted felon.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's officials say the "What You Know" rapper was stopped on a Hollywood street Sept. 1 after making an illegal U-turn. Police say they found several pills confirmed to be a controlled substance.
U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates said in a statement Friday that prosecutors are "very disappointed in Mr. Harris' recent conduct. We will make our sentencing recommendation at the revocation hearing."
