Rand Morrison was named executive producer of CBS News Sunday Morning in September 1999.
Morrison, winner of six Emmy Awards and a George Foster Peabody Award, had previously served as an executive producer for CBS News Productions. He produced, among other projects, the critically acclaimed 13-part Century of Country series on the history of country music.
Before that, he served in senior management positions on several CBS News magazines, including Public Eye With Bryant Gumbel (1997-98), 48 Hours (1995-1997) and Eye to Eye (1993-1995).
He was a producer for 48 Hours (1988-1993), for the CBS Evening News weekend editions and for the CBS Morning News. He began his CBS News career as a writer for the overnight broadcast Nightwatch.
Morrison was a writer for the Associated Press and United Press International news services. He graduated from Ohio State University in 1971 with a B.A. in English and from Northwestern University with a master's in journalism.
