Police, responding to a 911 call that someone had a weapon, heard gun shots in the house. When they entered, one of the men, it's not clear which one, was still alive. He later died.

Police believe the shooting had its roots in a domestic dispute. Steager used to date Bennet's mother, 37-year-old Narjaketha Bennett. She, and another person, Taiwan Hunter, 32, ran from the house after the shots were fired, the police told the Sporting News.

Rajaan Bennett had a bright future ahead of him. He was recruited and signed a college scholarship with Vanderbilt University, according to According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Football coach, Kyle Hockman, said Bennett was "just one of the best ever."

"He has a great head on his shoulders, a guy that has been the man in his household for quite a while," he told the paper. "Rajaan is both humble and hard working."
