Prison Pizza: Sheriff Joe Arpaio rewards inmates who helped female guard under attack

(CBS/AP) PHOENIX - Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio gave inmates pizza for lunch after some of them came to the rescue of a detention officer.

Authorities say 22-year-old Rachel Harris had part of her right ear bitten off during a scuffle with an inmate Monday in the Lower Buckeye Jail, before other inmates ran to her aid.

Harris was conducting a cell check when inmate Bobby Ruiz allegedly jumped on her back and attacked her. Authorities say other inmates came to the aid of Harris, who was recently hired by the sheriff's office.

Ruiz now faces charges of aggravated assault on an officer. He's been placed on lockdown and being served only bread and water.

The other inmates got pizza Tuesday.

Ruiz is jailed on a conviction for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
