Preview: Comic strip tackles same-sex prom story

(CBS News) A controversial storyline is unfolding this month in the funny pages of 400 newspapers nationwide.

In Tom Batuik's comic strip "Funky Winkerbean," the question is whether a same-sex couple will be able to attend their school prom together.

Batiuk has added wit and social commentary to his strip for decades. He recently told CBS News correspondent Seth Doane he has no plans to back down anytime soon.
