Popstar and Camelot collide in Taylor Swift, Conor Kennedy love match

(CBS News) Hollywood royalty meets Camelot as this summer's hottest teen couple is spotted out and about in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts.

Pop princessTaylor Swift has reportedly been dating 18-year-old Conor Kennedy, the son of Robert Kennedy Jr. and the late Mary Richardson Kennedy, who committed suicide earlier this summer.

This summer, Swift has lent a dose of Hollywood style glamour to the summer hometown of the Kennedy family. The star has reportedly made Hyannis Port her second home and fans of the chart-topping country music superstar have been staking out locations, from beaches to ice cream shops, where the duo has been spotted throughout the summer.

Swift has made no secret of her fascination with the famed American political dynasty over the years, and some members of the Kennedy family are reportedly skeptical of the relationship.

Still, many remain transfixed by the pairing and in an article for The New Republic, staff writer Noreen Malone, explores this fascination. Malone appeared on "CBS This Morning" Friday to touch on the curiosity swirling around the young couple.

"It's not just their political history, it's also their tabloid history" Malone said, adding that Swift has "constructed herself as an American princess."

For Malone, the couple makes sense, as the meeting of two somewhat manufactured myths.

"Critics have said she is very cannily packaged," Malone said before adding "the Kennedys come with a myth pre-packaged."
