Police find remains of missing N.C. man buried under his home

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police are investigating the homicide of a missing man after finding his body under a home in East Mecklenburg, according to CBS affiliate WBTV. The body of Richard Hable, 47, was positively identified by the Medical Examiner's Office.

According to the station, Hable's body was found during the search for him in east Mecklenburg County early Thursday morning, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

Hable, 47, was reported missing at 10:43 a.m. on Aug. 20. The reporting person told officers Hable had not been seen since since May at his east Mecklenburg County home.

Police said they found remains his home around 5:30 a.m. Thursday. The body was then sent to the Medical Examiner's Office to be identified, reports the station.

Neighbors in the area say Hable was "an OK guy when he was on his meds but when he didn't take them, he would get into fights with neighbors."

During the investigation Wednesday, detectives said they developed information that leads them to believe foul play was involved in Hable's disappearance, reports the station, and that at the time, they were concerned for his well being.

Police went to the home late Wednesday "looking for evidence related to the case," in and around the house according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police PIO Keith Trietley.

According to the station, a next-door neighbor was surprised that Hable's body was found. Kenneth Wright said, "No smell, no nothing and from what they said they dug for like four hours to get him out of the ground from up under his trailer somebody would have had to see something. And I sit on my porch all the time."
