Police Blame Fatal Stabbing on Conn. Man's Flatulence and Hurt Feelings

Police: Fatal Stabbing Blamed on Fart Jokes
Marc Higgins (Bristol Police Dept.)

BRISTOL, Conn. (CBS/AP) A 21-year-old Bristol man told police he stabbed four people at a party Saturday night, one fatally, because partygoers were making fun of his, um...gas-passing exploits.

Police say Marc Higgins was deadly serious, when he left the party and returned with three knives, then stabbed people indiscriminately, according to court documents released Tuesday.

Twenty-one-year-old Matthew Walton died of his injuries.

The Hartford Courant, quoting those documents, reported that Higgins told police he was angry at being derided for his flatulence and wanted to teach people that they shouldn't trifle with him.

Higgins appeared in court Tuesday charged with murder, assault and carrying a dangerous weapon, and was ordered held in lieu of $2 million bond.
