(CBS/AP) WASHINGTON - A D.C. man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend's 4-year-old son.

Thirty-three-year-old Peter Hendy II entered the plea Thursday in Superior Court. Sentencing is set for Nov. 22.

According to facts present in court, Hendy was baby-sitting Kamari Taylor on Aug. 5 while Hendy's girlfriend was at work. Prosecutors say Hendy admitted to becoming angry with the child about riding a scooter and punched him several times in the midsection.

Authorities say Hendy put the child to bed and left the home twice to sell marijuana. Prosecutors say Hendy called 911 after noticing the child was unconscious.

The boy was pronounced dead at a hospital.
