Paul McCartney tribute album due this fall

Bob Dylan, Billy Joel and Willie Nelson are among the artists performing Paul McCartney songs in a massive tribute to the former Beatle due out in November.

Up to 42 songs are featured in "The Art of McCartney," available in various formats including a two-CD package and box set. Organizers said Tuesday that it's due out Nov. 18, the brainchild of Los Angeles producer Ralph Sall. He's been working on it since 2003, and on many of the cuts, the artists are backed by McCartney's current band.

McCartney's son James plays keyboard with the Cure in the cover of the Beatles' "Hello Goodbye."

Dylan performs the Beatles' "Things We Said Today," Nelson sings "Yesterday," while Joel performs two solo McCartney songs, "Maybe I'm Amazed" and "Live and Let Die."

McCartney has been on the road this year, with dates lined up through the end of October. Last year, he unveiled his 16th solo studio album called "New."
