(CBS/AP) SLIDELL, La. - Police in Louisiana say their pursuit of a stolen Pontiac Grand Prix ended with a forced spin-out and the arrest of a man - who told them he took the car because he had to get home so he could make it to a second audition for the Fox reality show "The X Factor."

Now that's reality.

Detective Daniel Seuzeneau says 20-year-old Orrion Wilson, of Jacksonville, Fla., was in the Slidell, La. jail Tuesday, awaiting transfer to another jail and a bond hearing. The chase happened Monday night, one day after open auditions in New Orleans for the singing contest.

According to CBS affiliate WWLTV, police said Wilson admitted to stealing the car, saying he had done well in his initial X-Factor audition and was asked back to perform again in New York. He said he was just trying to get home first.

Seuzeneau says Wilson was booked with aggravated assault on a police officer, theft of a motor vehicle, theft over $500, criminal damage, resisting an officer, and aggravated flight from an officer.

A Fox publicist had no immediate comment.
