(CBS/KOIN/AP) PORTLAND, Ore. - An Oregon woman who reportedly admitted strangling her 11-year-old daughter to death, saying she did it to protect the girl from pedophiles, was arrested yesterday.

Kristina Buckley, 38, was arrested Wednesday after being released from medical care and charged with murder for the June 2 death of her daughter Cecilia, at home in the Portland suburb of Sherwood.

According to court records, police responding to a report of an injured child found Kristina Buckley locked in a bathroom inside the home. She was holding a kitchen knife and had self-inflicted cuts to her wrists and neck.

Patrick Buckley, 41, Kristina's husband, had just arrived home and was trying to revive their daughter.

Cecilia was declared dead at the Meridian Park Hospital, reports CBS affiliate KOIN.

Kristina Buckley was taken to St. Vincent's hospital to recover from her self-inflicted wounds, according to KOIN, and arrested upon her June 15 release.

Patrick Buckley told investigators that his wife was having mental health problems, recently exhibiting "paranoid and delusional behavior," according to the affidavit, reports KOIN.

After visiting a psychiatrist, Kristina Buckley was reportedly prescribed anti-psychotic medication, but when the symptoms continued the doctor increased the dosage.

Law enforcement testimony depicts a hysterical and incoherent Buckley talking out loud to herself about killing her daughter, saving her from pedophiles, and how she wasn't strong enough to kill her husband or herself.

"I should have hopped in the car and taken both of us and jumped off a bridge," said Kristina Buckley, 38, according to the affidavit.

"Everyone is in on a conspiracy to abuse my daughter," she said at one point.

KOIN reports that at another point during her arrest Buckley asked about her daughter's condition.

"Oh my God," said Buckley. "What have I done?

The district attorney's office said a defense lawyer would be assigned at a Thursday afternoon court hearing.
