On The Bush Farewell Address: He Couldn't Defend The Country Or His Record

By Bonnie Erbe, Thomas Jefferson Street blog.

Outgoing (thank God!) President Bush told any Americans who were listening last night that his legacy will be having kept America safe. Ha! Read this ditty from the Associated Press and make up your own mind:

While there has not been another attack on U.S. soil, the number of terrorist acts around the world has increased, Iran has gained influence in the Mideast, North Korea still hasn't verifiably declared its nuclear work, anti-Americanism abroad has emboldened extremists' recruitment efforts and a safe haven for terrorists remains along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

And then there's that never-answered question, why did 9/11 happen on Bush's watch? Is he responsible for 9/11? Terrorists do nothing by accident. They strike when they think they can hit their target. Was 9/11 Bush's fault? I think history will say, "Yes." He had his guard down, and Wall Street took the hit. As with everything else in his Alice in Wonderland presidency, he sees things through a looking glass---backwards! He takes credit for making us safe when in truth he did just the opposite.
