ONTARIO, Ohio -- A family's visit to Walmart turned deadly when a man accidentally ran over and killed his 2-year-old daughter, CBS affiliate WOIO reported Sunday.

The accident happened at 5:22 p.m. on Saturday at a Walmart location in Ontario in northern Ohio.

Police said Andrew Brooks, 25, pulled his 2001 Chevy Suburban truck to the front doors of the store to drop off his passengers, including his 2-year-old daughter, La'naya Brooks, and her mother, 24-year-old Britiney Morales Sayre.

Several passengers, including the toddler, exited the vehicle from the right side and walked around the front of the vehicle to enter the store.

La'naya was the last person to walk around the front of the truck.

Police said Brooks drove off to find a parking space and ran over the little girl the process.

Several bystanders along with responding officers performed CPR on the toddler.

Springfield Township Fire and EMS transported La'naya to Med-Central Mansfield ER, where she was pronounced dead.

Investigators said the father kept repeating that he did not see the toddler.
