Obituary: Family blames Seahawks' "lousy play call" for fan's death

KENT, Wash. -- A Washington family poked fun at the Seattle Seahawks for a fan's death, writing in his obituary that the game-ending interception led to his fatal heart attack, CBS Seattle reports.

The family of Michael Sven Vedvik, 53, put in his obituary in The Spokesman-Review that "we blame the Seahawks lousy play call for Mike's untimely death." Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson threw a game-ending interception at the one-yard line as head coach Pete Carroll elected to pass it instead of run the ball with Marshawn Lynch to win the Super Bowl.

"My husband would have thought it was hysterical," Stephanie Vedvik, his wife, told The Review. "If I had read this obituary to my husband about somebody else, he would have had a laugh."

Michael Vedvik didn't actually watch the game because he wasn't feeling well. He ended up recording the game to watch it later.

"He hadn't been feeling well on and off, but he wouldn't go to the doctor. He thought it was indigestion or stress," Stephanie Vedvik told The Review.

She found her husband dead Monday morning.

Michael Vedvik's sister wrote his obituary, and his brother-in-law added the Seahawks line with Stephanie Vedvik's approval.

His funeral will be held Feb. 7 at Mt. Spokane Church.
