NYC police: 5 dead after Brooklyn stabbings

NEW YORK Police in New York City say five people are confirmed dead after a stabbing at a Brooklyn residence.

The NYPD said early Sunday the ages of the victims ranged from 1 to 20. Police didn't immediately disclose the victims' genders or their relationships to one another.

New York Fire Department spokesman Jim Long said emergency responders found three of the victims dead at the scene. He said two others were taken to Brooklyn hospitals, where they were both pronounced dead. The department initially said three people were taken to hospitals.

Long said the FDNY responded to the home in the Sunset Park neighborhood just before 11 p.m. Saturday after reports of a stabbing. Police provided no further details and would not say if anyone was in custody.

The working-class neighborhood is home to many Asian and Hispanic immigrants. Adjoining two-story brick buildings sit on a tree-lined block where the stabbings occurred.
