Neil Patrick Harris poses nude for Rolling Stone

Neil Patrick Harris is wearing quite the formal birthday suit!

Sporting nothing but a bow-tie, a strategically-placed top hat and a smirk, the 40-year-old "How I Met Your Mother" star poses for Rolling Stone magazine's new issue, hitting newsstands May 9. In conjunction with this nearly-nude photo, NPH says of his image, "I have always been highly aware of how I was presenting myself. Which, now that I'm playing overtly feminine and loving it, is kind of a stupid concern."

The actor, who is currently stars as the transsexual German glam rocker in Broadway's "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," also opened up about coming out as a homosexual early on in his career. "Once all the cards were on the table, I got more opportunities than ever. Some actors don't get hired because you can't look into their soul and see what they're like, because they're kept guarded."
