The inter-species couple also announced their amicable breakup at a press conference. Kermit will continue to produce Miss Piggy's show, "Up Late With Miss Piggy," despite the drama.

"Piggy and I have gone our separate ways romantically," he said to a crowd of reporters. "It can be tough to work with your ex. It can be tough to be the executive producer on your ex's late-night TV show, especially when your ex is a pig. I don't know whether any of you have ever dated pigs."

Kermit insisted the couple are "professional adults," but Miss Piggy couldn't resist a few shots at the amphibian.

"One of us is certainly professional," said the late-night host. "You can guess who that is, I'm sure. I have no problem working with my ex, okay? It's fine. It's totally healed."
