Michelle Wanko, Pa. woman, accidentally kills husband during gun lesson, police say

(CBS/AP) PARKSIDE, Pa. - A 43-year-old woman accidentally shot and killed her husband while he was giving her a gun lesson, Philadelphia-area police said.

The woman said the couple had been drinking.

Police were called to the couple's Parkside,, Pa., home on Saturday at around 4 a.m. and reportedly found William Wanko wounded from a gunshot to his chest. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

John Egan, the police chief, said Michele Wanko had been drinking lemonade and vodka for hours when she told her husband she wanted to learn how to use a weapon in case someone tried to break in while he was away.

The woman picked up a pistol and pulled the slide back while her husband was getting another gun out; the pistol went off and wounded him in the chest.

She's charged with involuntary manslaughter.
