Meet the Man Tweeting The Entire Bible

LOS ANGELES (CBS) -- Chris Juby is a part-time web developer and part-time churchgoer, so his latest project seems to have become a match made in heaven.

On Aug. 8, he decided to launch @biblesummary on Twitter and committed to tweeting 140-character summaries of the entire Bible every single day.

I spoke to Juby from his home in Durham, England, where he talked about how he's been surprised by the reaction and his growing number of more than 13,000 followers.

"A lot of people can relate to religion and Christianity and I'm connecting it to something really contemporary with Twitter. I think that idea really appeals to people. Also, it's kind of a crazy thing to do over such a long period of time... One of the things that has surprised me the most are the number of people who have gotten in touch with me saying that they're not Christians or that they've never read the Bible before."

At this point, Juby is only up to the book of Genesis. He said it will take him three-and-a-half years to get through the entire thing.

"In the first place it was a kind of help for me in terms of just engagement with the Bible and to really understanding what's in there, but now it's become really popular," said Juby. "My hope is it will inspire people to read the Bible for themselves."
